This ministry is devoted to alleviating what Mother Teresa called "the terrible poverty of loneliness" by providing weekly visits to the elderly and homebound in our area. Our volunteers form bonds of friendship with those at home or in care facilities by simply being present.
We are in the process of building the Visitation Ministry at St. Jude. We would like to reach out to the members of the parish and ask for two things:
This ministry has the ability to reach and touch the lives of many people, not only in our parish community, but local community as well. It is a diverse ministry with opportunities for anyone.
The homebound Eucharistic Ministry made 4,366 visitations during the 2016 calendar year. We have 37 volunteers who work tirelessly to bring the "Body of Christ" to those who are unable to attend Mass, mostly the elderly. Jack DeSimone leads this ministry and will provide the necessary training to become a Homebound Eucharistic Minister. If you feel called to this ministry, please contact Jack DeSimone for more information.
