Those who minister to middle school youth are in the seed-planting business. They are working with kids who still have many significant and important decisions ahead of them, and the ministering adult has the opportunity to plant the seeds of Jesus' love, hope, and peace in the middle school child.

As a Catholic Community, we have the responsibility to assist the families in our parish in the faith formation of their children. By volunteering to become a Catechist or Catechist Aide for JYM: The Edge, you are answering the call of Christ.

  • Catechist
  • Catechist Aide
  • Safety Patrol
  • Substitute Catechist
  • Snack Helper
  • Social Time Helper
  • Office Helper
  • Chaperone (for events, activities, off-site projects, retreats, etc.)

Resources and Training:

  • Catechist Guide (contains lesson plan outlines, classroom aides, etc.)
  • Catechism of the Catholic Church (issued to new Catechists & Aides)
  • Bible (the same Bible issued to students will be issued to new Catechists & Aides)
  • Catechist & Aide Training Session (held in August)
  • Mid-Year Catechist & Aide Appreciation / Discussion Dinner

St. Jude Safe Environment Program
All volunteers are required to complete the St. Jude Safe Environment Training program which complies with the Dallas Diocese Safe Environment requirements. Training sessions are held throughout the year.
