Our carnival had its humble beginnings as a Children’s Ministry event with small children’s games and our teens dressing up as saints. In 2006, Fr. Tim and the St. Jude Staff reimagined the concept into a still small but outdoor courtyard carnival. Christ Renews His Parish participants and our youth provided much of the needed volunteers.
In 2015, the parish partnered with Talley Amusement, Inc. for 3 days of fun with a full carnival experience including rides, food, and an amazing view from the Ferris wheel, which became the logo of our carnival. In 2018, the Talley experience grew to four days and Thursday nights became Knights of Columbus Night. Adding the Talley experience has helped us increase our revenue and also increase our relationship with and awareness within our community. From the beginning, all have been welcome to come and join us for fun!
Sponsors have become an integral part of the carnival. Proceeds from Talley and our sponsors help us to cover operational costs for the carnival as well as to repair and remodel our beautiful campus. Our sponsors are greatly appreciated each year and help us to accomplish what is needed to provide a wonderful time for all.
In addition to the Talley experience, the St. Jude Courtyard Carnival and popular St. Jude Raffle continues every year. A Silent Auction and recently added Gift Card Pull raise money for local underprivileged children as well as other charitable efforts. Each year the carnival committee tries to plan a great event combining the Talley experience for older kids and the young at heart with our courtyard carnival which provides opportunities for younger families to have plenty of affordable fun, food and games on Saturday.
While originally reaching nearby neighborhoods, our carnival has grown exponentially and now serves not only Allen but also surrounding communities. There is something for almost every age during our 4 days of midway fun, food, and games along with our Saturday activities in our courtyard.
We are thankful for all the many sponsors, volunteers, Knights, carnival committee and staff that help make our carnival a success each year as well as all our parishioners and visitors who come to our four days of fun.
