Children's Eucharistic Adoration began as a program called Children of Hope and was founded in France by Father Antoine Thomas of the Community of St. John at the request of a mother to lead a holy hour for children. Since then, Children of Hope Eucharistic Adoration has spread throughout the US and the world. At that time Pope John Paul II gave his Apostolic Blessing to this program as it responded to his own appeal that the youth be exposed to Our Lord in the Eucharist on a regular basis.
Children's Eucharistic Adoration takes place four times a year at St. Jude. One of the priests or deacons of the parish spends about an hour with the children of the parish explaining how to adore Jesus. The children gather at the altar and learn how to show reverence to Jesus as He is placed in the Monstrance. All attending say prayers together and sing simple chants. It is a wonderful opportunity to help children be calm, quiet, and listen. They also have time for reflection.
