WE CARE Program
This is a service program sponsored by Children's Ministries to help the young children of the parish understand the Corporal Works of Mercy, and to realize that individually and together we impact the world with our good works. Each month, the program focuses on a different work in addition to how we help ourselves and others at our church, in our community, in our country, and in the world. The works of mercy that we focus on during the year are to feed the hungry by completing Thanksgiving baskets in November, to give drink to the thirsty by collecting milk money for the orphans in Russia, to clothe the naked by collecting baby clothes for the White Rose Center, and to visit the sick by writing letters of cheer.
This year the children's offering schedule is as follows:
September 28: "We Care for Our Community"
In September 2021, we collected cleaning supplies and food for the Missionaries of Charity in Dallas. Our generous parish gave: 154 one-pound and two-pound bags of rice, 128 one-pound and two-pound bags of pinto beans, 47 bottles of Favulosa, 40 bottles of PineSol, 101 boxes of disinfecting wipes, and 56 cleaning clothes!
October 26: "We Care for the Poor"
Collecting 1 pound bags of rice and beans and items for unwed mothers for the Missionaries of Charity. For more information, click here.
November 16: "We Feed the Hungry"
Collecting food for Thanksgiving Baskets for the Allen Food Pantry. We also collect cereal at the various weekend Mass times.
December 24 (at 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm): "We Care For Little Children"
Collecting new, small stuffed animals for the hospital and fire department
January 25: "We Send Love to Our Seniors"
Collecting Toiletries for the residents of Victoria Gardens and other senior centers in our parish area
February 22: "We Give Drink to the Thirsty"
Collecting "Milk" money for the Russian Orphanage
March 21: "We Clothe the Poor"
Baby items for White Rose and Missionaries of Charity
April 18: "We Care for Our Sister Parish in Honduras"
Collecting "graded" books for St. Rita's school in Saba, Honduras
May 9: "We Care for the Sick"
Collecting rosaries and holy cards to give to patients in the hospital
June 20: "We Care for Our Community"
Collecting school supplies for the Catholic Charities and area Title One Schools
