"Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service." (USCCB)
In the Diocese of Dallas, Catholic youth are confirmed through a two-year preparation process. The process begins in the 7th grade, and the sacrament is administered at the end of 8th grade. Here at St. Jude, we offer this two-year program, as well as a program for those in high school looking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Throughout the two-year Confirmation preparation journey, students will be utilizing various resources as guides and references to gain a deeper understanding of their Catholic faith, what it means to be confirmed, and how they are being called right now. The primary resource being utilized is Ascension Press's Chosen. We also use a variety of supplemental resources to make a well-rounded program for our students. In addition to diving into these resources, students are invited into authentic discussion, hands-on activity, and prayer during their weekly gatherings.
Through catechesis, service opportunities, retreats, and a variety of events, we strive to meet the spiritual and social needs of our youth. Parents and families are an important part of this process. As a parish family, we look forward to working together, so that our youth experience a strong sense of community and support.
