For PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten we use Allelu! from Our Sunday Visitor. For our 1st through 6th graders, we use the ALIVE IN CHRIST parish version curriculum published by Our Sunday Visitor. This is for our 1st through 6th graders.
We offer in-person classes as well as virtual lessons for those who opt for the Home Study Religious Education Experience. The series invites children to hear God's invitatino to a personal relatinoship through His Word, helps the children discover and learn the Church's teachings, and how to learn how to live as Catholic Disciples. It involves parents and families with a variety of resources and gives the Catechists the resources to teach in a classroom setting. The website ( aliveinchrist.osv.com) has resources for both families and catechists.
Allelu! - Our Sunday Visitor
“Allelu!” is the religion curriculum that St. Jude Parish has adopted to fulfill the Faith Formation Mission with our youngest parishioners: preschool ages three and four and kindergarten. Children learn about the God who created them, loves them, forgives them, and calls them to help others. The focus of early-childhood formation is to impart religion and the values of our faith by example more than to teach a great deal of formal doctrine. As far as formal training goes, the children are expected to learn the Sign of the Cross and they will learn the Guardian Angel prayer.
The Children's Ministries Religious Education (RE) program aims to help children develop a positive sense of their own self-worth. Young children must first come to appreciate themselves before they can come to appreciate God. Their ability to know a loving God comes through knowing people who love them. Their ability to understand a forgiving God comes when they feel forgiveness from others. Their ability to share with others is developed when they experience sharing first hand.
These curriculums are supplimented by Children's Ministries Programs, Pillars of Faith and WE CARE.
