" 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the holy Spirit.' " John 20:21-21
Putting Faith Into Action
JYM2 is an encounter with the person of Christ through His Church and its community. Here, the young Church prepares for the completion of their initiation into the faith. To help youth discover their gifts and the difference they can make as disciples in action, youth will participate in a variety of community-building events, service activities, and retreats in and beyond the parish community.
The course work for the second year of Confirmation prep at St. Jude is a study of “Our Life in the Church.” It is an experiential year as the youth begin to establish their own place within the life of the Christian Community. They choose and study a Confirmation Saint, write a letter to the Bishop formally requesting the Sacrament on their own behalf, and complete an interview prior to the reception of the Sacrament. As in their first year, they are responsible for completing a minimum of 15 hours of service to those in need. “… Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 6:40
The Church strives to “raise up” the individual through the elevation of the family. Therefore, as a way to honor and support parents in their role as primary catechist, advocate, and nurturer of their children, we will strive to provide opportunities and tools that enrich and deepen the experience of parents and their youth at this important time in their lives. For JYM2 families, a parent session is held in September and mid-year.
As the first precept of the Church, regular Mass attendance is a requirement for practicing Catholics; those preparing to receive sacraments should be especially circumspect in their adherence to these obligations.
JYM2 Confirmation Prep Classes meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:00pm and Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:30 pm . Parents may select either day as long as space remains available. Registration begins the prior Spring.
