Each summer, our high school youth reach out in service and mission to help those in need. This is a direct response to our baptismal call to live as disciples of Christ. Empowered through Confirmation with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we are enabled to take part in the Church's mission of Justice and Service to others.
In the past, we have traveled to Mexico, helping build shelter for the homeless; we traveled to New Orleans several summers to help with the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the area.
Every place we have traveled, we have been blessed with the opportunity to serve as our Lord served. But a greater blessing has been the friendships we have forged, with each other as well as those we served, and in many cases, we have received much more than we gave.
Last year we returned to New Orleans, Louisiana to help with the rebuilding efforts that continue to be needed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In 2015, we are heading to San Antonio with Young Neighbors in Action to serve the community there. Young Neighbors in Action offers your teens a week of participating in mission, growing in faith, joining in prayer and serving those in need. The theme this year is all about our call to make a difference in the world! We are to be salt for the earth and a light in the darkness for all.
